Who is/are Doris Crea?

The Doris Crea Collective — Andrej Agranovski, Leonard Dick, Alessa Maria Karešin, and Mariann Yar — creates contemporary theatre and performance work.

The artists share an international background spanning Santiago de Chile, Zagreb, Moscow, and Kabul. They can easily talk past one another in four different languages, yet somehow all sing along to Elton John in perfect unison. It’s from this mix that their work repeatedly returns to questions of identity, belonging, and what it means to live in the diaspora.

Their practice sits at the intersection of discursive theatre and pop culture, incorporating choreography and music. At its core, however, is an irrepressible joy in performance: sharp ruptures, heightened emotional intensity, and a bold, playful command of language. With effortless ease, they break the fourth wall and connect with audiences on a deeply emotional level.

Through a collective rehearsal process, their individual artistic voices come together in self-written, partly autofictional texts and original compositions.
